The sub without a date is a gateway to get a Rolex with the iconic cyclops. After . There is only one Submariner. The rest have a date function. You know I hear this said all of the time but all of my subs, whether with a date or not, are called "Submariner" on the dial. It is true though that some say oyster perpetual and some say oyster perpetual date.
The sub without a date is a gateway to get a Rolex with the iconic cyclops. After having the sub without a date, paired with the BLNR, Rootbeer, Datejusts, and bluesy, I never went to the no date. It didn’t feel like a Rolex without the cyclops which makes Rolex unique.

Is either model in greater demand than the other? Does either model hold value better than the other? I personally prefer the No Date. I get that the Date and cyclops is part of the iconic Rolex look, but I just prefer the clean, sharp, symmetrical look of the No Date. Share. Like.
It should be actually called "Submariner" or " Submariner date". The originally Rolex Submariner was a no date. That was something they came up with once the patented the cyclops. So the no date Submariner is the original sub.
Rolex Submariner: Date or No Date? I’m curious- the Submariner is a timepiece I definitely want but I haven’t decided which I like best. I feel this small detail makes a HUGE difference. And, I have no need for the date and am not fond of the magnifier. The submariner has the cleanest, no-nonsense aesthetic. There is only one Submariner. The rest have a date function.
