The main symbol was a vertical monogram of stylized letters “Y,” “S,” and “L.” They are exquisitely intertwined with each other, expressing sensuality and craving for experimentation.
Fashion house Yves Saint Laurent has already settled on the logo for Saint Laurent Paris, the name which Hedi Slimane’s future designs will carry. Saint Laurent Paris harks back to the Saint Laurent Rive Gauche line, created by the couturier in the 1960s, by using the same font.
It was the latter who created the famous monogram logo composed of the letters YSL. Unlike Chanel's logo, which relied on duplication and inversion of letters, Yves Saint Laurent's monogram logo vertically intertwined the letters of the designer's name in an elegant font with slight serifs.
